The Vagabonds arrive in their past in the year when Baron Swiftfiste first sealed the gates of Hell in the face of Asmodeus.  Splitting into two groups, the heroes go to Calimshan and Myth Drannor.

In Myth Drannor, Carbunkle deciphers Kendric of Sparnes as Prince of Darkness, just as Kendric turns on the heroes.  A half dozen pit fiends tear out Arthur Tully’s heart and throw his life’s blood on the gate as the Cronus opens the portal.  Time is altered, and rather than facing Asmodeus, the heroes face all nine arch-devils in an annual conference in Nessus.  Arthur is resurrected by Zenith and joins the battle.  Kendric disappears.

Ocarina presents her research on the metamage Briar English.  She asks her friends to accompany her into another plane where she seeks to save him and also glean the secrets of his magic.

Fleeing a ruby dragon, the heroes activate a shadowy portal in the clanhold of the gnome clan Dunweir.  The portal transports the heroes into the Darkest Realm of Amgaard Andorovich.

 

 

 

Aside of Time

 

Over the course of a week and a half the heroes confront Amgaard Andorovich in his own lair, defeating him and leaving his aid Larna Nandar in control of his domain.  Larna Nandar calls for a truce with the heroes and shows them to a portal leading back to the Realms.  Briar English is left in the Darkest Realm as a tormented ghost.

Aside of Time

 

On their way back to the Realms, the heroes hears a crying voice in the Mists.  Zenith and Asher recognize the voice as that of Rudolph van Richten.  The heroes willingly give up the journey home, instead traveling into the Mists and returning to the Lands of Mist in the year 751.

12 Eleasis

Arthur, Carbunkle, Tenada, and Olan return from a work crew assigned to bring in the harvest around Lindale, Damara.  That evening, orcs raid the village temple and run off with both Aralic the cleric and an artifact crucial to the King’s Festival.  The heroes follow them and recover both.

The heroes return to the caverns of the orc chief, this time delving into the haunted catacombs where the evil cleric Petrides animates the dead of Stallanford in a plot to conquer the region.  The heroes meet Darien and Silverleaf.

The heroes travel north with a letter found in Petrides’ lair.  It is addressed to the wizard Kavorquian.  Finding Karovquian dead, they avail themselves of his son, giving him the means to have his severed arm regenerated and also to court a lady who has captured his eye.

The heroes leave Kavorquian’s house at the request of the Baron Swiftfiste, who has heard of the letter they found in Petrides’ lair.

Now working as agents of Baron Swiftfiste, the heroes raid Haradraith’s Keep.  They are led by Goldtree.  They are accompanied by Damein Nobleblade.  The heroes slay Ilyana Penhaligon, destroy the Chaos Sword and rescue the barony.  In a moment of greed, Damein loses his paladinhood, beginning a long route to regaining it.

The heroes defeat cultists led by Ravnos at the Devil’s Gorge, saving the son of northern duke.

Fleeing the overthrow of the Damaran government, the heroes flee into the swamps of Vaasa and find themselves in the Lands of Mist.

The heroes defeat the combined threat of Jean and Marcel Tarascon in the island domain of Marais d’Tarascon.  In battle with the zombie lord Marcel, Tenada is nearly killed.  Though his friends save his life, he survives in a state of living decomposition.

The heroes come to the aid of the village of Kleine, assaulting the lair of Raven, the master thief.  In the process, they awake—and then make an enemy of—the thief himself.

An investigation of the mysteries in the village of Andras pits the heroes against powerful wolfweres and the undead.  The heroes also encounter the cursed goblyns for the first time.

The group splits.  Half of the heroes, riding along the shores of the Sea of Sorrows, meet Dr. Victor Mordenheim and his cursed progeny Adam.    Tenada finds a cursed scroll and summons a black cat with a truly infernal nature.

The heroes set out to save the Downs from a gypsy curse.  They ride east towards the northern extension of the Sleeping Beast known as the Dragonsteeth Mountains.

The Downs offers the heroes eternal gratitude for rescuing them from drought and a failed harvest.

Riding east from the Downs, the heroes seek lodging at Rolf’s sagehouse.  They intend to use this place as a base of operations while they seek a portal to the Realms in the nearby Forbidden City.  One evening, Carbunkle, Tenada, Darien and Olan exorcize a demon from the house and discover the lost remains of the evil warlord Trask, now an undead horror.

The heroes save the Downs from the revanent spirit of Rolf’s grandfather.

Investigating the wrong that stirred the spirit of Rolf’s grandfather to vengeance, the heroes unearth an evil past concealed in the Downs.  However, they cannot get past a magically sealed door in the village temple.  The key lies elsewhere.

The heroes return attempt to pierce the sealed temple door with a silver key taken from Rolf.  This is the wrong key.  In a battle in the Downs, Goldtree is killed.

Turning to the Forbidden City to find the magical key, the heroes fall prey to Raven and his band of minions.  They are taken prisoner at Rolf’s house.    The heroes escape the thief and kill Raven in the backdoor of Raven’s home.

Carbunkle dies after he attacks four tasloi, a tasloi chief and a twelfth-level mage while in the possession of but one hit point.  Soon after, the heroes meet the half-ogre Scourge and the Kara-Tur kensai Kazeka N’Ao.

The heroes return to the Downs with a magical key found in the lair of a dragon in the Forbidden City.  They penetrate to the heart of the lair of Primus, the evil wizard.  Slaying Primus, they also defeat his infernal allies.  In order to save an angel, the heroes must shatter the magical gemstone that maintains a portal leading home.  Scourge dies during the assault.

The heroes save a village from the curse of a witch who seeks to have the villagers’ own children murder their parents.

In exchange for the healing of Kazeka N’Ao, the heroes agree to carry on a mission for the Count Strahd von Zarovich of Barovia.

For the Count von Zarovich, the heroes purge a Barovian moathouse of cursed goblyns.  While doing so, they banish the arch-devil Belial into the Circles of Hell, thereby earning an arch-devil’s eternal enmity.

When the Count von Zarovich strikes the heroes, they are ushered to safety through the Mists, leaving them with enemies in the domain among both the rulership and also the rebels, whom the heroes abandon to the Count’s justice as they retreat.

Tenada casts dispel magic in a battle near a portal into the Lands of Mist.  The resulting influx of magical energies shatters the portal outward, hurling the heroes into the Lands of Mist.  Another portal in the chamber, leading the Circles of Hell, also opens outward into the Realms.  The heroes are home, but both portals remain open, pumping evils into the Realms.

The heroes close the gates of Hell and the Mists in the ruins of Bloodstone Castle.

Tenada, Olan and Silverleaf steel Damein’s flaming sword and ride north, trying to lure him in a direction other than the one he intends to ride.  The three rogues ride into a slaver caravan led by Garduna.  Garduna gives the command, and Tenada and Olan are both captured.   When they resist too much, he orders them killed.  Only Silverleaf escapes.

The heroes are honored by the baroness of the Bloodstone Lands and presented with their own keep, but they must purge it of evil creatures first.  In their efforts, Kazeka N’Ao and Roy the halfling are killed.

Eleint

The heroes travel into the countryside from their keep, investigating a fallen comet for a respected scholar.  During this investigation they meet the naïve ogre Edward Oldladyson, the half-elfin mage Ocarina Barrillion, and her manservant Nouge Holstick.

Investigating the Tower of Invernus, the heroes destroy the evil band of the legendary necromancer Ivan Abominus.

Darien leads the heroes south to the region of his upbringing.  Powers within the Mists conspire to lure Darien into an easy revenge against the betrayer who murdered his parents.  Darien vanishes into the Mists in a bolt of black lightning.

The heroes stand against the Mists as the Grand Conjunction and the Time of Troubles shake the Forgotten Realms to their very foundations.  Jacob McGraw places the Holy Symbol of Ravenloft on the altar of Castle Ravenloft, unraveling the conjunction and banishing the Mists from the world.

During the Time of Troubles the heroes join forces with a band of younger heroes who grew up idolizing them.  Among this band are Bishop Squeemil, Valance Agril, Nathaniel Tallfellow and Duffy Stryker.

The heroes are rewarded for their deeds.  They are appointed dukes and granted a duchy along the northern border to oversee.

Winter

The heroes are responsible for severe damage to northern Damara as they erect great walls of fire and bombardments of fireballs and flame strikes to repel a frost giant invasion.

A banquet in Procampur turns to horror as the master thief Raven seeks his revenge.  Raven is a possessing spirit known as an odem, and the heroes ultimately trap him in an iron flask.  Bishop Squeemil is slain.

Flamerule

Trekking into the Great Glacier to dispose of Raven, the heroes find the hidden lair of Chancellor Blacksprite, the mysterious figure who aided them in sealing the gates of Hell and the Mists, and who also appeared in connection with the undead in their haunted keep.  Blacksprite agrees to banish Raven into the Nine Hells.

The heroes defeat the Eye of Vecna in the village of Copperfield, within their very own duchy.  In this same adventure they drive off the ruthless catburglar known as the Thief of Hearts.

A ceremony designed to honor Arthur Tully transforms into a night of terror as the villainous doll Maligno traps the heroes in the the bodies of wooden dolls.  The heroes recover their bodies before the process becomes permanent.  Stryker executes the mad old man whose desperation imbued Maligno with life.

Marpenoth

Returning from Lindale, the heroes are trapped in the mist-locked Chateau d’Ambreville.  To escape, they must unlock a three-keyed gate and then collect four artifacts from the Amber family’s native land of Averoigne.  Then, they must summon the tomb of Stephen Amber and free him from the curse that binds his entire family and estate.  During this adventure, Raiden is killed and the heroes begin a contentious relationship with the Earth hero Alexander McCoy.

Finally reaching Castle Defiant, the heroes find themselves the target of a massive slander campaign engineered by Belial the arch-devil.  They flee the nation when the judges pronouncing a writ of execution for them are revealed to include Ravnos the cultist, the Thief of Hearts and other enemies.  The heroes flee into the Galenas, where they do battle with Belial himself; Stryker beheads Belial’s avatar.

When Ocarina’s father dies, she and the heroes become involved in a mission to find  her missing mother.  Working clandestinely, they locate the airship of Baron Swiftfiste’s old adventuring troupe.    While tracking down the drow elf and death knight responsible, Nathaniel Tallfellow is slain by an unholy fireball.

The heroes meet Lord Aemon for the first time and aid him in restoring some needy crops.  Lord Aemon tells the heroes of the Lifeheart, describing it as a magical item that could perform great deeds in the context of agriculture.

The heroes meet Sir Tristan Ironspur for the first time.  He comes to the heroes on behalf of Chancellor Blacksprite, clearly in contempt of the heroes for their involvement with the wizard.  It will be many years before he aligns himself with the heroes.

As the heroes fly over the Greycloak Hills they meet the psionicist Gareth do’Duren.

Dark Powers within the Mists try to convince the heroes to willingly return to them.   They partially draw the heroes into a world similar to the Realms but subtly different.  In the pseudo-world, they are thanked and heaped with rewards for their deeds, sweetening the pot for them to stay in the Mists’ embrace.  The heroes decline.

In the Moonshaes, Stryker hires Alarin, a ki-rin in the guise of a dwarf, to fashion dragonscale armor out of the head scales of the red dragon Scorch.

As the heroes leave the Moonshaes they are attacked by agents of Chancellor Blacksprite.  They defeat their foes and sail west over the Great Barrier.  In doing so, they render the Chancellor helpless to stop them, beginning a long period of madness and recession for much of the Forgotten Realms.

 

 

 

Aside of Time

 

The heroes travel through the western reaches beyond the Great Barrier, meeting Grecho Dedman and Spike the minotaur warrior-priest.  While there they learn of the Psionic and the true age of Chancellor Blacksprite.  They find the Lifeheart as well, as determine to return to the Realms with it for Lord Aemon.

Flamerule

The heroes return to the Heartlands with the Lifeheart.  They find Chancellor Blacksprite, mad.  Lord Aemon reveals himself as a lich and rival to Blacksprite, and exposes the Lifeheart at the Chancellor’s phylactery.  Zelda the Old Lady comes to the heroes’ aid, and with her are many of the heroes’ fallen comrades, including Tenada Greenleaf and Carunkle.  The heroes battle Blacksprite with Aemon at their side.  Both liches die.

Damein, Ocarina, Hunter and Dana travel to Barovia through the Mists to meet Kryl, Shadow, Tiara and Zenith.  They work together to expose a wax golem impersonating the Burgomeister of Barovia and to defeat a Kargat cell in the south.

The Vagabonds close to elemental gates in Citadel, reclaiming the Damaran throne with the intent and blessing to install Arthur Tully as king of the nation.  Five years of peaceful rule begin.

In Cormyr, the heroes explore the lair of the demi-lich Icelia, the second of Chancellor Blacksprite’s apprentices.  While there, Acerak, the third, arrives ahead of schedule.  Tenada is slain by a zombie dragon turtle, but with the arrival of Alarin the heroes are able to slay both demi-liches.  This completes the chain reaction begun with Blacksprite’s death, and missing stars return in the night sky in a new formation.

Kendric of Sparnes appears under mysterious circumstances in Damara.

Gregor Stolnik dies in battle outside Midton and Citadel, putting down a rebellion.  As he dies, he bellows, “Long live Arthur Tully!”

Ocarina receives an invitation to come to the Chateau d’Ambreville in its new location in Myth Drannor.  When divinations indicate that Arthur Tully is alive and also in Myth Drannor, the heroes board a new airship and fly south.

In a midnight raid the heroes recover the poisoned and comatose body of Arthur Tully.  In the battle, Henri d’Ambreville kills Kazeka N’Ao.

Zelda the Old Lady administers a potion of time travel to the heroes, sending them back in time to stop the Cronus from altering the timestream.  They return to the year 1273, when Baron Swiftfiste and his adventuring troupe first fended off an attempt from Asmodeus to enter the Realms.

At the crack of dawn, the heroes siege the cathedral home of the guild of necromancers on the Koshka Bluffs.    Few wizards survive the attack.

Bevelon Halovic conducts an election to replace Alisair al’Aksad as the Seat of Conjuration.  When a vision of Kendric of Sparnes disrupts the proceedings, Bevelon attempts to banish the Vagabonds from the Isle.  Instead, Chad Darkstone leads a coup that ends with the destruction of all the ornate thrones of the Sitters of the Giff.   Bevelon flees the Order, taking one third of the wizards with her.

Infernal forces splinter the village of Old Kintry in Tepest, seeking to take back the soiled Holy Symbol of Ravenloft.  An enraged aerial servant slays the anchorite Wyan. Tiberion is murdered by Mammon.

The heroes learn that Lamordia, Mordent and Dementlieu have left the Northern Alliance, forming a new alliance known as the Treaty of Sorrows.

The Holy Symbol of Ravenloft is cleanses in the holy font of the Circle in Verbrek.  The stones of the Circle are restored into the forms of the Saints of the old world.

The Holy Symbol of Ravenloft is returned to the altar of Castle Ravenloft.  Count Strahd von Zarovich is cleansed of undeath.    Father Rickert and his companion Dane are slain, alongside Rand al’Thor.  The chapel of Castle Ravenloft functions free of the Mists.
